Eddie Clendening - Million Dollar Quartet
If you haven't heard by now, rockabilly singer Eddie Clendening has hit the big time with the stage show "Million Dollar Quartet". Firmly established in the role of Elvis Presley (of course), he's managed to successfully transition from the start of the show in Chicago to it's new location in New York. Congrats on your success Eddie!
Eddie was also recently featured in Broadway Buzz and will be making an appearance (May 10th I believe) on the David Letterman show. Check the listings for your local schedule! You can tell by the below picture, that Eddie is a big fan of vintage denim and workwear style clothing! Dig it!

Prohibition "The Noble Experiment"
Dubbed "The Noble Experiment", big daddy government tried to prevent it's good citizens from embibing in the evils of alcohol. The resulting change was that a whole lot of criminals got rich selling cheap, low grade, rot gut alcohol. Fortunately it only lasted from 1920 - 1933. Why you ask would the government do something that we can clearly see is so stupid now? Pressure from a special interest group called the "Temperance Movement", who believed that prohibiting the consumption of alcohol would solve certain social issues and promote a good clean "Christian" lifestyle. Guess they enjoyed forcing people to "do the right thing" back then too. Here's some fun pics from the era:

"Get Low" Upcoming Movie Release
Brought to us by the fine folks at Sony Pictures, "Get Low"depicts the tale of a 1930's hermit (played by Robert Duvall) from Tennessee who throws his own funeral! Sounds like a movie with great potential and interesting period fashion. The cast of stars includes Bill Murray, Sissy Spacek and Lucas Black. "Get Low" is due to be released in July 2010. Felix Bush, the character portrayed by Robert Duvall, was in fact Felix "Bush" Brazeale from Roane County, Tennessee. He threw his own funeral on June 26th, 1938 complete with the largest crowd ever seen in the area. Held at the two building Cave Creek Baptist Churches, neighboring John Cook reportedly took in over $300 by charging folks 25 cents each to park in his field. Cars were lined up for miles. Sales of hot dogs, soft drinks and floral arrangements were through the roof also.

Chasing Rainbows Documentary
Not sure what year this was made exactly, but it's definitely at some point in time in the 1980's in around London. It's interesting to see the style of clothing and the wild dancing they were doing back then. Really the epicenter of the world's rockabilly scene back then. They are still doing it now!
1940's Souvenir Hula Dancers Photo Set
Here's an old souvenir photo set from Hawaii depicting native Hula dancers. I've seen lots of these and this one is not complete, but still a nice example from the 1940's. What a thrill it must have been to be in Hawaii when the islands were still relatively fresh and not over commercialized yet!
