Report From The Aleutians (1943) - Directed by John Huston

Director John Huston, while a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1943, creates an Academy Award winning documentary, which he narrates with assistance from his actor father Walter, treating of the Armed Forces' successful effort to prevent the fall of the Aleutian Islands to advancing Japanese troops who had captured several islets. Although no claim can be reasonably made that this location was of major strategic importance during the War, it presented enormous tactical and logistic difficulty for those assigned there, and Huston's color film demonstrates the determined ensemble work upon the outpost of Adak by a wide range of military specialists who combat loneliness and boredom along with notably severe weather conditions. The work was made over a six month period, and is climaxed by the preparations for, followed by an actual filming of, a bombing run over Japanese-occupied Kiska, wherein Huston nearly lost his life, and which is significant for its combat footage and for the atmosphere of suspense present in the viewer who wonders if all will return safely.

1930's Whirling Log Cowboy Cuffs

Another example of pre-WWII use of the Navajo "whirling logs" symbol commonly used as a decorative element. This pair brought in slight over $400 on eBay and have unusual snaps and embossed design.

1930's Studded Jeweled Belt With Navajo Buckle

This one went unsold  with a $375 BIN price on eBay. You can see from the solder marks on the back of the buckle that it at one time had jewels. Stamped with "whirling logs" Navajo symbol, it predates WWII when the swastika became unfavorable as a design element in the United States.

1940's WWII Era USN Service Shoes

Fantastic pair of WWII (?) era US Navy services shoes. These sold for $315 on eBay and are in fantastic condition.

Evans Carroll & the Temps - "Come Back Baby"

1930's Black Leather Grizzly Jacket

One of the most amazing and iconic styles of the past century, you either love or hate the Grizzly Jacket. I've been lusting after one for several years, but have yet to score one for my own collection. This particular jacket sold for just about $1,730 on eBay! Note the unusual patina and texture of the leather.
