Springdale Furnishing Out of Business?

Once a mecca for Heywood Wakefield and other modern delights, could it be true that Springdale Furnishings  is going out of business? I received a flyer in the mail indicating they are auctioning off over 1,700 pieces of mid-century furniture on June 19th in what they are calling an "Inventory Reduction Sale". More info about the auction appears HERE. Either way, it's a good opportunity to get some amazing furniture at a reduced price (not that the market isn't already pretty flat to begin with). Springdale's seemed to survive on the wealthier Chicago crowd that owns some substantial homes up and down the Michigan side of Lake Michigan. Further dampening their business was the loss of founder Jim Toler (he is greatly missed by many). Here are some select things from their site:

Bye Bye Mercury

Ford Motor Company has officially announced that it will be phasing out it's Mercury brand. Around for 71 years, it will be missed by many. Nothing more iconic than a 1949 Merc!

1940's Big Mac Chore Jacket

Here's a stellar 1940's Big Mac chore jacket with a rare big stripe/little stripe pattern. Sold for just over $300 on eBay, some lucky bidder trumped my bid!! Bon chance!

Junk From The North

While on vacation over the weekend we found a little time to pick for some old stuff! Found a neat Paul Bunyan Jim Beam decanter, a pair of Tiki decanters and a few old license plates!
