Masa Sculp

I was lucky enough to find Masa Sculp in one of my many internet travels and have been fascinated by his sculptures ever since. Masa is a self taught sculptor who takes inspiration from objects both old and new. I can see more than a bit of mid-century American styles in there such as the famous Rittgers figurines of the 1930's and 1940's! It's no surprise that he's also an avid collector of vintage objects, toys, books and clothing.

It's hard to imagine that somebody without any formal training or apprenticeship could create such amazing works of art. That is what I would call true natural talent! Masa has a strong attention to detail and quality that drives his creative process. If he's not satisfied with his piece, it might end up in the bin. I particularly like the classic styles and subject matters of his pieces.

Here is a selection of some of the many items he's created and that are for sale (or were for sale) on his blog:

Masa's goods are also available in several places in Japan (at places like Warp & Woof) and now at Salon Serpent in Amsterdam!
