Felix Bush, the character portrayed by Robert Duvall, was in fact Felix "Bush" Brazeale from Roane County, Tennessee. He threw his own funeral on June 26th, 1938 complete with the largest crowd ever seen in the area. Held at the two building Cave Creek Baptist Churches, neighboring John Cook reportedly took in over $300 by charging folks 25 cents each to park in his field. Cars were lined up for miles. Sales of hot dogs, soft drinks and floral arrangements were through the roof also.

Looks interesting! I have not heard anything about it, but the period clothes and set design looks cool. I think I have read something about the man it is based on before, or maybe I saw it on a TV show, I can't really remember.
Cool blog! I found it via clicking your comment on ACL.
Thanks! It looks promising. I'll try and post a little review after the movie hits my area (Detroit).
