One of the most amazing features at the Detroit Institute of Art's is this mural depicting Detroit's auto. industry by Diego Rivera. It was completed in 11 months between April 1932 and March 1933. Commissioned by Edsel Ford (son of Henry Ford), it portrayed workers of different races working together along with some other touchy subject matter. Rivera even snuck himself into the paintings (hint...he's wearing a bowler).
